Combined Driving, Pleasure & Marathon Carts
Competition carts are those that may be used in one of the Combined Driving classes; Dressage, Presentation, Cross Country Marathon or Obstacle. Pleasure cart driving is also competitive but not as physically rigorous. Pleasure cart driving is judged on historical authenticity and style. Typically these carts are pulled by one, a pair or four horses by a driver. The driver may be accompanied by 1 or 2 grooms and passengers.
Marathon carts are light weight, customized carts for use in the cross country marathon portion of horse driving trials. They may be used with single, pairs or four horses driven by a driver and grooms. The grooms assist the driver by shifting their weight to balance the cart going around corners and through obstacles.
